Bob Silverstein is president of Quicksilver Books, a literary agency and former book packaging and publishing firm established in 1973. QB is responsible for the creation of many national and international bestsellers, including novelized versions of such highly-acclaimed films as "Last Tango in Paris," "Shampoo" and "Chariots of Fire." All of these titles were published in the U.S. and Canada as Dell/Quicksilver paperbacks.

For more than 35 years, Mr. Silverstein has successfully divided his career between books and movies. After graduation from the City College of New York and post-graduate work in comparative literature at the City University of New York (Hunter College), he entered publishing as an associate editor with Gold Medal Books and later become an editor of the Crest and Premier divisions of Fawcett Publications.

Between 1962 and 1965, Mr. Silverstein served as managing editor of Dell Books and as senior editor of the newly-formed Delacorte Press. In 1965 he joined Anthony Quinn Productions as associate producer and story editor, assisting the actor in preparing his autobiography as well as shaping screenplays for production in the U.S. and Europe. From 1967 to1970, Mr. Silverstein was senior unit publicist for United Artists and MGM on major motion pictures filmed on location throughout Europe. In this capacity he worked closely with producers Carlo Ponti, David Wolper, Harry Belafonte and others.

Mr. Silverstein has also co-produced several independent documentary and feature films, as well as a number of television commercials for the Ogilvy & Mather ad agency. In 1971 he returned to publishing as senior projects editor for Bantam Books. Among his acquisitions were such cutting-edge titles as Gestalt Therapy Verbatim and In And Out The Garbage Pail by Fritz Perls. After several years he left to start his own company, Quicksilver Books, Inc., and since then has collaborated with writers in producing many popular works of fiction and non-fiction, including the previously mentioned movie tie-ins.

Other Quicksilver projects, many still in print, include books inspired by new therapies and holistic healing techniques such as Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Rolfing, etc. Among them are The Body Reveals (HarperCollins, 4 editions, 12 printings); Own Your Own Life (McKay/Bantam, Psychology Today Book Club main selection); Chalk Talks On Alcohol (HarperSanFrancisco, 15 printings), and the international bestsellers: The Dogs (Dell/Delacorte), The Prince of Whales (Tor Books), Children Learn What They Live (Workman), Jefferson's Great Gamble, (Source Books), Dinner At Mr. Jefferson's (Wiley), Nice Girls Don't Get The Corner Office and Nice Girls Don't Get Rich (Warner Books).

As a literary agency (founded in 1987), Quicksilver Books is primarily interested in mainstreaming adult fiction and non-fiction,with special emphasis on commercial and literary novels. Non-fiction categories include: narrative adventure, self-help, psychology, environmental issues, nutrition, health, history, cooking, healing, alternative therapies, music, New Age, science, medicine, reference, biography and inspirational memoirs.
